Toyota plans to buy a large amount of auto parts in China in order to reduce the manufacturing cost of hybrid cars in Chinese market. Over 50% of auto parts used on Corolla and Levin models of hybrid cars will be locally manufactured first and the final goal is to achieve that 100% of auto parts are made in China. 

Vice President of The R&D center of Toyota in China told the media: In order to reduce the prices of hybrid cars as well as create more customers’ demands, Toyota has to increase the share of its buying in the local Chinese market. By 2015, half of the parts used on Corolla and Levin manufactured in China will be directly purchased from suppliers in China.
