2014-05-29
In mid-February, the Dutch association of importers of fasteners NEVIB visited the premises of member firm Eurobolt in ’s-Heerenberg. Over 25 delegates gathered to discuss the latest EU anti-dumping measures. Host Robert Klaassen, owner at Eurobolt and president of NEVIB, took delegates on an extensive tour of the warehouse - situated close to the German border it serves Eurobolt customers all over Europe.

After the visit, the group met in the medieval castle of ‘s-Heerenberg to hear the latest about anti-dumping measures, such as the recent prolongation of the China/Malaysia duties. NEVIB was proud to have as main speaker Mr Kees van Oosten, director Customs & International Trade at DHK Tax & Legal in Rotterdam. Mr van Oosten briefed the audience on the various legal elements related to imports and circumventions. The Q&A session after his presentation showed that much is still unclear e.g. regarding proofs of origin. NEVIB is working with advisors to get clarification on this and related issues.

The group also discussed future cooperation with the European Fastener Distributors Association: NEVIB became a member of EFDA on 1st January 2014. Over drinks and the typical Dutch snack ‘bitterballen’ the half-day event also allowed time for some social networking. With this successful third member event, NEVIB is confident it has underscored its value as the #1 representative body of the industry in the Netherlands.
