Canadian GRK Fasteners to Move to Chicago
Founded in 1990, Thunder Bay, Canada-based GRK Fasteners will be relocated to Chicago of the U.S. About 40 employees in the factory will be directly influenced. After GRK Fasteners was sold to Canadian ITW Construction in 2011, it got the promise from the new owner that the factory would not be moved to another place at least 3 years. The retired president Uli Walter claimed that the company has been very profitable since 2011. However, the new owner thinks that the operation is currently not as good as it originally expected and has decided to move it to Chicago. Uli Walter was quite sad about the condition and Mayor Keith Hobbs also said the situation now “is unfortunate.” GRK is now preparing for the press release and will have no comment before the official announcement.
