Vietnamese 2014 Car Sales Grows 43%
Vietnamese Automobile Manufacturers ‘ Association (VAMA) currently reported that the total car sales of Vietnam in 2014 were 157,810 units, up 43% over the previous year, showing growth in the Vietnamese automotive industry in 2 straight years (sedans +43%, trucks +42%, domestically assembled cars +32%, imported cars +83%).
The report shows that the full year car sales of Thaco Auto last year shared 31.6% of the market share (42,339 units, the 1st place). Toyota was in the 2nd place and its sales reached 40820 units (30.6% of the market share). The sales of Ford, Honda, and GM were 13,988 units, 6,492 units, and 5,134 units respectively. It is reported that the automotive market of Vietnam in 2015 will maintain a positive trend due to the recovery of economics and favorable tariff measures. The Ministry of Industry and Trade forecast that the automotive sales this year will continue to grow and the total car sales this year may reach 200 thousand units.
