Recap for Taiwan Fastener Export in Jan-Aug 2017

According to the database of Taiwan Customs Administration (TCA), from Jan. through Aug. 2017 Taiwan exported about 1.06 million tons of fasteners (incl. iron nails) to the world, a 2.65% increase from the same period of 2016. If calculated by value (USD), Taiwan exported about USD 2.783 billion worth of fasteners to the world, a 9.87% increase from the same period of 2016. The average value was USD 2.632 per KG, a 7.03% increase from the same period of 2016.  

 
To review the statistics of the single month of August, top 10 export destinations were: USA, Germany, the Netherlands, Japan, UK, Italy, Canada, France and Sweden. USA, in particular, represented more than 60,000 tons (approx. USD 0.156 billion), which was over 40% of Taiwan’s total fastener export. If calculated by KG, the top 3 countries with the highest increase from the same period of 2016 were Slovakia, India and China; if calculated by value, the top 3 countries with the highest increase were Slovakia, Italy and China.

 
Top 5 product categories in Taiwan’s fastener export this August were: Other Screws &Bolts (7318159000), Nuts (7318160000), Self-tapping Screws (7318140000), Steel Nails (7317009010), Other Non-threaded Articles (7318290000). Amongst all these product categories, the product category with the highest total weight increase from the same period of 2016 was Tubular & Open-end Rivets of Base Metals (8308200000);if calculated by value, the product category with the highest total value increase from the same period of 2016 was Helical Hooks & Rings (7318130000).
