Metal Machinery Industry Has the Highest Export Growth Due to ECFA Benefit

According to the statistics from Department of Statistics, Ministry of Economic Affairs, 2010 total output value of the manufacturing industry in Taiwan is NT$13.83 trillion, up 30.68% from 2009. Observing from 4 key industries, we can find metal machinery has the highest output value growth（up 40.93% from 2009）. Among the 26 middle categories of the manufacturing industry, machinery equipment has the highest growth（up 53.61% from 2009）; basic metal is the second highest（up 49.03%）. Steel manufacturing of the basic metal industry keeps increasing because the downstream industry like machinery and vehicle have great needs and international steel prices are expected to rise. Benefited from ECFA, great needs from emerging markets, Europe and America, the machinery equipment industry keeps increasing production. 2010 metal machinery industry exports are US$ 53.97 billion, up 35.51% from 2009. With ECFA benefit, the export increase between January and February of 2011 is up 42.36%, showing the highest export growth of all industries.
