PPG Alltech Celebrates 20th Anniversary. Electrocoating Leads the Trend of Green Sustainability

Renowned for advanced coatings for over a century with operations and R&D sites in 70+ countries, PPG entered Taiwan over 40 years ago. Recognizing Taiwan's growing fastener manufacturing base, PPG established PPG Alltech in Kaohsiung in 2006, the first engineered coatings center in Asia. PPG Alltech introduced the most advanced coating processes and equipment from the U.S., aiming to increase the added value of its coatings and expand the application of its products in the fastener field. Its flexible production and industry-leading technical expertise have not only enabled Alltech to meet customers' customized coating needs for the past 20 years but also made it a key part in PPG’s global coating market strategy. Alltech's annual output has increased nearly tenfold to 20 million kilograms over the past 20 years.

Cutting-Edge Technology Helps Customers Build Core Competitiveness
PPG's high-performance coatings and diverse product range greatly assist customers in providing top quality products in the industrial, construction, and automotive markets. PPG Alltech provides fastener testing, prototyping, and verification services in conjunction with customer development. Electrocoating demonstrates significant advantages over traditional surface treatments, including a uniform smooth coating, less recess clogging and paint buildup, lubricating properties for less torque in installation, and excellent chemical and corrosion resistance. This provides users with comprehensive fastener protection and time- and labor-savings. In terms of actual data, PPG's electrocoating passes 2,000+ hours of salt spray testing and 30+ Kesternich test cycles, which is equivalent to years of corrosion resistance. PPG also helps customers enhance their international presence and leads the industry in ESG environmental sustainability through technologies such as low VOC, Cr-free, RoHS, REACH, PFAS-free, and Prop 65 compliance.
Electrocoating Eliminates the Hydrogen Embrittlement Risk and Ensures Safety
The combination of PPG phosphate coating and electroplating eliminates the risk of hydrogen embrittlement and fracture failure common in electroplated fasteners, while offering excellent corrosion resistance, making it ideal for applications where safety is a primary concern, such as automotive and high-end industrial structural fasteners. Its uniform coating, high corrosion resistance, low recess clogging rate and excellent workability meet end users’ multifunctional demands. PPG is also actively collaborating with customers to develop more high-performance and sustainable innovative coating technologies, helping them navigate fierce global competition. Through resource sharing within the group, PPG is enhancing its local services and fulfilling its role as a crucial tech platform in Asia.

Water-based, organic, pollution- and PFAS-free, self-lubricating, Prop 65 compliant, and low chip loss upon impact are all advantages that PPG can offer. Business Manager Steven Hung said that high-quality is PPG’s spirit, and they look forward to continuing to develop products that meet the needs of today's generation, helping customers reduce costs and create lasting value they can trust. PPG Taiwan Business Director Clark Tsai said that production lines will inevitably become more diversified, and PPG will continue to develop products meeting customer expectations by combining AI to drive energy efficiency and carbon reduction. Business Manager Roger Chen said that diversified products and compact processes are the future trend, and PPG's global factory network can help customers obtain certified products and shorten development time. Business Director Gary Wu said that customers' export capacity is the cornerstone of our development, and we hope to help customers expand their markets with our products. Business Manager King Chiu said that PPG can support global customers' off-site production strategies by providing services through local locations. Plant Manager Josh Chuang said that under PPG's five visions, we hope to help customers achieve their established goals. Business Manager Ofelia Chiu said that PPG provides solutions tailored to customer needs, and its pace in regulatory compliance and green sustainability is faster than competitors.
