An Overview of Vehicle Production and Sales in Taiwan in First Half of 2011

The gross output value of the vehicle industries in Taiwan in the first half of 2011 was NTD287.9 billion, up 10.13%, accounting for 3.93% of the gross output value of the manufacturing industry in Taiwan. Among the vehicle industries, the gross output value of the auto industry was NTD86.2 billion, up 13.48%; that of the motor scooter industry was NTD41.9 billion, up 11.28%; that of the bicycle industry was NTD22.7 billion, up 9.20%; that of the auto parts industry was NTD109.7 billion, up 9.53%; that of the motor scooter parts industry was NTD22.2 billion, up 13.85%; and that of the bicycle parts industry was NTD23.3 billion, up 8.92%. The gross output of automobiles in Taiwan in the first half of 2011 was 158,134 units (up 14.92%) and the gross sales were 189,354 units (up 28.73%). The gross sales of motor scooters in Taiwan from January to August in 2011 were 427,972 units, up 36.02%, and the gross output of motor scooters was 804,147 units, up 15.7%. The gross export value of the auto parts industry in Taiwan from January to June in 2011 was NTD88.1 billion, up 5.71%.
