Proper Control of Micro-miniature Screws

Fasteners are generally disliked by manufacturers from the perspective of having another part to pick up and install, an attitude supported by all the associated costs. However, even in the ever-shrinking world of smaller assemblies, there will always be joints designed that need the specific tensioning, access, and serviceability provided by threads.
As applications reduce in size, so too the required fasteners, and those lighter loads often preclude dependence on a nut and bolt to achieve joint integrity. This typically results in single screws doing the job, whether a machine screw or a self-tapping type.
