Established in 1973, Sheh Fung Screws Co., Ltd. is not only specialized in construction screws made of carbon steel and stainless steel, but also experienced in fastener surface coating. With more than 4 decades of continuous innovation and R&D, it has accumulated abundant experience and technology in screw manufacturing. From wire feeding to heading, forming, threading, heat treating, electroplating and packaging, each process is strictly monitored by its quality control staff, fully implementing the idea of one-stop production. Besides its in-plant manufacturing system, the company outsources phosphate, mechanical galvanizing, and hot dip galvanizing surface treatments, fully utilizing the advantageous supply chain of Gangshan District (the screw industrial cluster of Taiwan) and co-existing with collaborating plants. When a company wants to be considered a good company, it must prove it. Besides acquiring “The Rising Star Award” and “SMEs Award” in Taiwan, Sheh Fung is also the first Taiwanese screw plant acquiring the QC-080000 certificate for green manufacturing. Fastener World Magazine is honored to interview Sheh Fung’s next-gen successor, general manager Kent Chen, to share his tips for business sustainability in traditional industries.

Go Listed on the Emerging Stock Market to Further Stabilize Business Foundation

Sheh Fung, being a giant construction screw manufacturer and a leading brand of floor and composite screws, currently accounts for five thousandth of the world’s screw demand. Unlike general and traditional screw plants, Sheh Fung adopts informatized, systematic and computerized management, and its manufacturing is processed with standard operation procedures. To expand business scale at full throttle, general manager Kent Chen and his team decided to bring the company to the international market and expects it to go listed on the OTC market this March. By then, this will attract more people in the industry to join and make a better future together.

Expand Capacity for Becoming a True “Industry 4.0” Company

With nearly 300 employees and 3 plants, Sheh Fung’s annual capacity can reach 18,000 tons. Each of the plants has a different function. The new plant in Mituo Dist. specializes in screw production and packaging, the Ciaotou plant is responsible for heat treatment, electroplating and wastewater treatment, and the Yong-an plant focuses on painting and head coating. In the future, the company not only will continue to expand its plant and increase manufacturing equipment, but also plans to improve quality management and inventory systems. “We want our clients to understand that ‘management’ is also a type of ‘value’,” said general manager Kent Chen. After introducing the expensive SAP system from Germany, the company can not only get the real-time update of all production data, but also effectively control lead time through its intelligent equipment for automatic packing, conveyance and inventory to boost capacity and get on par with international screw giants.

Achieving Shortest Lead Times Through Customization and One-stop Production

With its unique surface coating and painting lines, Sheh Fung perfectly exerts the advantages of Gangshan-based industrial cluster of Taiwanese fastener industry. The newly inaugurated plant not only helps effectively shorten lead times and control quality, but also helps collaborate with partnered plants on resource, labor, and material supply. “The future Sheh Fung will play the part of a factory as well as a highly efficient fastener supplier with short lead times,” said general manager Kent Chen with confidence. Looking ahead, Sheh Fung has a high level of requirement and expectation for itself, and hopes to officially tap into the automotive fastener field and stay with the global trend with its advantageous one-stop production and customized surface coating. In light of the current talent shortage in the fastener industry, general manager Kent Chen hopes to attract like-minded partners to join the team by obtaining more international certificates, government recognition, advanced management and self-improvement, and moves on to the next step with its excellent corporate culture.
